Closing Off - World Whisky Tour 2015

Author: Matt Wooler - Friday, July 31, 2015

Thank You For Attending

July 30, 2015 saw us host a World Whisky Tour at the Castle Hill Bowling Club. In attendance was a select group of individuals from the surrounding Hills Shire, joining together to try something new in whisky from 6 countries.

It was great to see some old and some new faces in the crowd and excited that our whisky community is building now in the Hills.

Many questions were asked and in particular a great question about whisky and women. Almost half our crowd were women of all ages which just proves the point that this is no longer a male dominated spirit anymore.

The sensory plates displayed some of the key nose to taste elements that may or may not have been appearing in the whiskies. Some of these times were charcoal, vanilla, match heads, overripe banana, brown sugar and pepper corns.

Foods matched to the whiskies were chocolate, glazed sultana danish twists, water crackers, vintage cheddar cheese and the ever faithful palate cleanser mozzarella cheese.

We had our winner of the give away comp, Colin Lopes, enjoyed the virtues of the Amrut Peated Cask Strength and South Island 21yo whiskies. We also welcomed to the table local lifestyle journalist Stacey Roberts from The Hills Shire Times (you may have read thier article about Dramnation recently).

For a collection of images taken on the night head over to our Facebook page to view.

We wish to again say thanks for attending and look forward to seeing you all again soon!
