Author: Matt Wooler - Thursday, February 16, 2017

It has now been announced that Ardbeg Day will be falling on the 3rd!

Why is this important? If you have been following Dramnation or a frequent guest at our tastings we talk about the amazing things that happen on this day each year. Things of myth and legend. Times ti lament if you are not involved. Wishful thing for the coming years event. What dreams may come...

Each year there is a festival on Islay, Scotland, called Feis Ile, Islay Festival of Malt and Music. This is a week long event where the island celebrates all things whisky, music and local legend. Whisky is a huge part of the island so on this week long event, each distillery takes its turn to open its doors to the public. Each distillery is nominated a day and Ardbeg always has the 7th and last day of the event. As this day grew in legend, Ardbeg Distillery decided to celebrate its day globally. One of the first countries to see this global celebration is Australia.

Ardbeg Day is specifically created for all Ardbegians, Ardbeg Committee Members, to come together to celebrate this amazing distillery that only 25 years ago was destined for permanent closure. So not just anyone can attend. You must be signed up as a Committee Member before even considering attendance as tickets are highly sort after.

What can you expect on Ardbeg Day? Whisky, games, cocktails, more whisky, plus a little bit of hype and wow. The location will remain a secret as will the theme of the event itself until a nominated time. This is all part of the game.

So to begin with, if you want to be part of the fun, be sure to fulfill the following steps:

1. Save the date for the 3rd June.
2. Register as an Ardbeg Committee Member or be an existing Committee Member.
3. Make sure to use a legit email address as this will notify you of registrations when they happen.
4. Wait for the email for registrations and get in as quick as possible before spaces run out.

Will you be at Ardbeg Day? I now we will be.
