Aberlour Single Malt Whisky Review

Aberlour is a distillery in the heart of the Speyside region, situated in a beautiful villiage at the foot of Ben Rinnes near the Lour Burn. A wonderfully soft, smooth, firm-boddied whisky is produced using the water filtered through this granite rock. A great example of a Speyside single malt whisky, Aberlour use a combination of sherry and bourbon casks during maturation to add sweet and spicy notes and a lovely toffee and honey finish. Aberlour is a readily available single malt and comes highly recommended by us all at DramNation.com.

Aberlour worked with Georg Riedel (Austrian designer) to develop a glass specifically for whisky tasting

St Drostan, an early Christian missionary, used the water of the Lour Burn to baptise the local population

The practice of buying whisky 'en Primeur' (before normal release) was introduced first by the Aberlour distillery

It is easy to appreciate beauty after a wonderful evening meal in a fine restaurant, surrounded by articulate yet humble intellectuals. It is more difficult when eating frozen pizza with two grunting teenagers, even when the beauty in question is a bottle of 10 year old Aberlour. After politely refusing the "Kit-Kat or an apple" dessert, I retire to my study to 'work'. Twenty minutes later and I'm beginning to gently unwind with one of the softest and most pleasing speyside single malts. Aberlour has plenty of character and complexity with wonderful and lasting flavour development. I could describe it all in far greater detail but I really can't be bothered - I'm enjoying the drinking too much...
